For the Christmas 2014 season, on December 10 The Hong Kong Women’s Choir hosted a dinner gala concert at the Conrad Hotel titled “Joy! A Christmas Gala Extravaganza”. The event kicked off with a cocktail hour outside the hotel’s ballroom. As guests dined on a holiday themed three-course meal, the choir regaled them with songs celebrating the holidays, including Do You Hear What I Hear, Beethoven’s Joyful Joyful, a traditional Spanish carol titled Villancico, and the popular song Let It Go from the hit Disney movie Frozen. To raise additional funds for the two beneficiary charities, both a silent and live charity auction, as well as a raffle, were held. The talented emcee and auctioneer for the event, Ms. Margaret Kutt, entertained and amused the audience throughout the evening. The night’s festivities concluded with a bubbly toast and dancing into the late hours.
The Hong Kong Women’s Choir is a registered charitable organization, founded by a group of dedicated women, both expatriates and from Hong Kong, with a common love of singing. Within this organization, there are two sister groups: NOVA, the core group of singers performing to accompaniment and The Grace Notes who sing a cappella (unaccompanied). Rehearsals are held weekly and fundraising concerts for local charities are run each year in May and December
